- Painful feeding, nipples come out misshaped and often squashed like a lipstick, cracked or white nipples.
- Painful breasts and poor breast drainage.
- Poor or slow weight gain.
- Symptoms associated with reflux.
HOWEVER, all of the above could also be down to poor position and attachment at the breast. The best thing to do is getting a full feeding assessment from a qualified IBCLC or breastfeeding counsellor. I can assess for TT during a personal feeding assessment.
A tongue tie assessment can ONLY be made by having a professionals fingers placed inside baby’s mouth. It is NOT a TT assessment if fingers are not inside baby’s mouth! Then only a registered TTP can snip the TT. This is a quick painless procedure, and all practitioners can be found on the TTP website. A local TTP I recommend is Tongue Tie North East.
