Welcome to our guide on understanding normal infant sleep! As your baby grows and develops, it’s essential to be aware of their unique sleep patterns and needs. Sleep, like everything for babies develops as they grow and all babies are different. Humans are carry mammals and so babies biologically expect to be carried closely by their main care giver for most of their infancy, to be kept close so they feel safe. Something that in western culture unfortunately is often overlooked and babies are left alone and put down to sleep alone.

Understanding normal infant sleeping, being flexible and responsive I believe are crucially important to navigate through these early months and years. I do not promote sleep training or being unresponsive to babies, only healthy evidenced based sleep strategies. This knowledge will help you create a nurturing environment for your baby and set you all up for a healthy nurturing future together.
